Cornerstone VNA invites you to become a member the Norma Snow Legacy Society.  The Norma Snow Legacy Society was officially introduced at a special event on October 6, 2016 and was established to honor our founder and recognize those who have chosen to make a lasting commitment to Cornerstone VNA through a will, trust or other planned gift.  Their generous support will ensure that Cornerstone VNA will continue to be here for future generations.  We were grateful to have Norma Snow’s great-grandson join us as we unveiled a special plaque to honor our founder and legacy society members.

Some words from Norma’s family…

“She was very special and responsible for so much in my life.” – Kay, Norma’s Granddaughter

“Grandmother cared for her family, for people…always wanting to help those in need.  She was an advocate of positive change for betterment.” – Dick, Norma’s Grandson

About the Norma Snow Legacy Society

norma-snow-portraitNorma Snow, a philanthropist and President of the Rochester Women’s Club, founded Cornerstone VNA in 1913 to provide homecare services to residents in Strafford County and Southern Maine.  In honor of our founder, the Norma Snow Legacy Society was established to recognize those who have chosen to make a lasting commitment to Cornerstone VNA through a will, trust or other planned gift.  As a member of the Norma Snow Legacy Society, you will be helping to ensure that Cornerstone VNA continues to fulfill its mission to promote the optimum level of well-being, independence and dignity of those living in the community by providing trusted, compassionate and expert health care.  Additionally, through your generous commitment, you will be helping to ensure that Cornerstone VNA will continue to be here for future generations.

For more than 100 years, Cornerstone VNA has been committed to bringing services to people of all ages, regardless of their ability to pay, so that families can stay together at home, even when facing the challenges of aging, surgical recovery, chronic or life-threatening illnesses or end of life care.  Today, Cornerstone VNA provides skilled nursing, rehabilitative therapies, social work as well as volunteer and support services through five distinct programs: Home Care, Hospice Care, Palliative Care, Life Care-Private Duty and Community Care.

As a full-service non-profit home health organization, Cornerstone VNA continues to rely on philanthropic support to provide care to those in need as well as to stay on the leading edge of advances in home care technology.  The support we receive helps our organization meet the challenges of change as we navigate health care reform, trends in home health care delivery and reductions in reimbursement.  Support also gives our staff access to continuing educational opportunities and certification programs that will lead to improved quality of care and patient outcomes.

A charitable bequest is a gift to Cornerstone VNA that is made through your will or living trust. In your will, you may leave a specific amount, a percentage of an estate or a specific gift. Making a bequest to Cornerstone VNA is a simple and effective way to support our organization. There are many opportunities for creating a bequest.  Some of life’s transitions or milestones are a good opportunity to re-evaluate your charitable gift estate planning, such as:

  • Change in marital status
  • A significant birthday
  • The birth of a child or grandchild
  • The death of a beneficiary
  • An inheritance
  • The purchase of a new asset such as life insurance or a new home
  • To commemorate someone you love or to provide support and recognize the work of your favorite charity.
